Support Manual / Site Specific Help / E-Commerce How to's / E-Commerce Basics / How to add an Advanced Category list frame
Here you will find the basics needed to get your E-Commerce Module up and running.
First for your E-commerce module you will want to work on getting the backend setup. This is where you will see your products, orders, and all of your settings. Once this is setup, you will need to setup pages to display your products on.
Understanding your products:
- You need to know HOW you want your products to be searched on the site. For example: What categories will there be? Do I want the customer to search by manufacturer?
- Do I have images?
- Do the product's have options? Is the price affected by the options? (for example: if I sell shirts an option for shirts would be large, medium, small. Some sites charge more for xxl or xxlt)
- There are significant SEO benefits of a detailed description. So be sure to write detailed and accurate descriptions for your products and categories.
Shipping:
- You will need to figure out how you will charge shipping. If you want to use UPS, USPS, FEDEX ETC...
- If you use a dropshipper they may have some requirements for shipping charges. Be sure that you are charging AT LEAST what they will be charged. (this can be done with upcharging on the shipping method if needed)
- If you want to use realtime methods, then the products need to include the shipping weight. (the more accurate the weight is to the actual product, the more accurate the estimator will be with your shipping charges)
Payment Methods:
- You will need to obtain your own Merchant account. After you have obtained a merchant account you can set it up in the "Payment Settings" area of your E-commerce Module.
- The merchants we allow are: First Data, Quickbooks, Authorize.Net, PayPal PayFlow, ECHO, Skipjack, PayPal, PayPal Pro ExpressCheckout, PayPal Pro DirectPayment, Google Checkout, 2Checkout
Layout of products:
- Our system is pre-built, with preformatted page layouts. Much of the layout can be adjusted, but certain elements (including checkout) is fixed - meaning that some function and astetics MUST use what we have available.
Once all of this is setup you will need to make a page to show your products on. Click here for instructions on how to setup your Products page.
